Professional microblading procedure at Anthea Health & Aesthetics

Microblading is a micropigmentation technique that allows you to design natural-looking eyebrows hair by hair, achieving an incredibly realistic result. However, the success of the procedure largely depends on the aftercare you follow during the following weeks. At Anthea Health & Aesthetics, we provide you with this complete guide so your eyebrows look perfect.

What exactly is microblading?

Before discussing aftercare, it is important to understand the procedure. Microblading uses a manual tool with micro-blades that deposit pigment into the superficial layer of the dermis, creating fine strokes that simulate natural hairs. Unlike conventional tattooing, microblading is semi-permanent and offers a much more natural appearance.

The procedure takes approximately 2 to 3 hours, including the prior design, topical anesthesia application, and the micropigmentation process. During the session, our specialist designs the ideal shape of your eyebrows based on your facial structure, hair color, and personal preferences.

First 24 hours: the critical phase

The first hours after microblading are the most important for the final result:

  • Do not wet your eyebrows: Keep the area completely dry during the first 24 hours. Avoid water, sweat, or any liquid coming into contact with your eyebrows.
  • Do not touch the area: Resist the temptation to touch, scratch, or rub your eyebrows. Your hands can transfer bacteria that cause infections.
  • Clean gently: If your specialist instructs you, gently clean with a gauze moistened with sterile water to remove excess lymph that may form.
  • No makeup: No makeup on or near the eyebrow area.
  • Sleep on your back: Prevent the pillow from pressing or rubbing your eyebrows during the night.

Days 2 to 7: the scabbing phase

During this week, it is normal for thin scabs to appear over the eyebrows. This is a natural healing process:

  • Do not pick the scabs: This is the most common and most harmful mistake. Picking scabs can remove the pigment, leaving colorless patches.
  • Apply healing ointment: Follow your specialist's instructions on what product to apply and how often. Generally, a very thin layer of petroleum jelly or specialized ointment 2-3 times a day is recommended.
  • Avoid intense exercise: Sweat can affect pigment retention. Avoid activities that make you sweat for at least 7 days.
  • No sun exposure: Ultraviolet radiation can degrade the pigment prematurely. Wear a hat if you need to go outside.
  • Avoid pools, ocean, and saunas: Chlorine, salt, and steam can interfere with healing.

Days 7 to 14: the peeling phase

It is normal for scabs to begin to naturally fall off. During this phase:

  • Eyebrows may appear lighter: Do not be alarmed. When scabs fall off, the pigment underneath may appear more faint. This is completely normal and is known as the "ghost" phase.
  • Continue avoiding prolonged water: Short showers are fine, but do not submerge your face in water.
  • Still no makeup: Wait until the area is completely healed before applying any cosmetic product on the eyebrows.
  • Moisturize the area: Good hydration helps skin regeneration and color retention.

Days 14 to 30: the regeneration phase

During these weeks, the skin continues its regeneration process and the true microblading color begins to emerge:

  • Color stabilizes: Around day 28-30, you will see the final pigment color. It may be between 30% and 50% lighter than immediately after the procedure.
  • You can resume your normal routine: Gradually you can return to exercise, makeup, and sun exposure (always with protection).
  • Evaluate the results: This is the time to assess whether you need a touch-up.

How long does microblading last?

Microblading is a semi-permanent treatment that lasts between 12 and 18 months, depending on several factors:

  • Skin type: Oily skin tends to fade faster than dry skin.
  • Sun exposure: The sun accelerates pigment degradation.
  • Skincare routine: Products with exfoliating acids (AHA, BHA, retinol) can lighten the pigment faster.
  • Pigment quality: At Anthea, we use high-quality pigments that guarantee greater durability and natural fading.

When should I get a touch-up?

A touch-up between 4 and 8 weeks after the first session is recommended. This touch-up is essential because:

  • It allows correcting any area where the pigment has not set uniformly
  • The shape and color can be adjusted based on how your skin has healed
  • It significantly extends the duration of the result

After the touch-up, maintenance touch-ups every 12-18 months are recommended to keep your eyebrows always perfect.
